Crossovers, phase and bi-wiring
A crossover divides the signal among drivers. Passive crossovers use inductors, capacitors and resistors between amplifier and drivers. Electrical frequency and slope do not alone describe the acoustic result: driver response and relative phase also matter.
Bi-wiring separates cable connections to passive crossover branches. Bi-amping uses separate amplifier channels. Extra terminals do not remove the need for a suitable crossover. Nominal impedance and band count alone cannot establish a universal crossover’s suitability.
