On 23 September, AFP and Dalet announced a partnership to introduce Content Credentials into news-video workflows. The aim is to carry information about origin and history through processing, encoding and distribution. The announcement targets completion of a proof of concept in the first quarter of 2027.
Content Credentials use the C2PA specification. It allows digitally signed records to be attached to content and their connection to a particular file to be checked. Depending on what participants record, recipients may learn about origins and certain edits. This is not automatically a complete history of every event.
A signature can help detect a broken link between a file and its recorded information. It does not establish whether a filmed event is true, staged or described correctly. A missing provenance record does not by itself mean that a file is fake.
Editorial outlook: the benefit for video would be preserving traceable history during ordinary processing. Practical tool compatibility and clear explanations to viewers will matter. This remains an announced pilot, not confirmed deployment across the full workflow.
